Simply Sekkai

A piece I was commissioned to complete by a forum friend, this black-and-white portrait features Sekkai's same-named character that is used in the Arena subforum. She's depicted here with her standard equipment: a large sword, as well as special vials and a bag at her hips. When I reviewed the description of the character I got the idea to turn her test tube-like vials into ampoules (because I think they're cool and I enjoy saying that word,) though I settled for just the one she's holding in her left hand. I also moved the vials to the side of her hip so as to not interfere with the movement of her right leg.

As it's in black and white, this drawing gave me an opportunity to get back to basics, as well as formulate where would be a good spot for hatching and where would be better toned with my brush. Now the next step will likely be to try and get the same precision in color for a more complex (i.e. human) figure as compared to my MLP works.
